Does it cost anything to join?
No. Completely free, including equipment.

What age can kids start?
Our programs are for Middle School and High School youth.
What if my child has never played any sport?
Totally fine — most kids start with zero cricket experience. 
Can girls play too?
Yes — girls are very welcome, though the program doesn't currently have any girl participants yet. Women's and girls' cricket is one of the fastest-growing parts of the sport worldwide: global women's cricket tournaments drew more than 120 million viewers in 2026, and girls' team numbers have grown by double digits year over year in major cricket nations. 
Can I watch practice?
Yes. Parents and family are welcome at Underhill Park any Tuesday. You do not need to tell us you are coming. 
What should my child bring?
Comfortable clothes, shoes, and a water bottle. Equipment is provided.

What does "after-school program" mean?
A supervised activity after the school day ends — free cricket coaching, mentorship, and community, no experience required. It keeps kids positively engaged for their wellbeing, connecting them with a sport many of them already love, and a sense of belonging.

What if the weather is bad?
Outdoor practice is weather-permitting; check with your coach if unsure. 
How does travel to away games work?
Always at least two adults present, never one adult alone. 
Does the program run in the winter?
Outdoor practice pauses when weather isn't safe, but training continues indoors using baseball batting cages. Exact winter schedule and location are still being finalized — check with your coach for current details. 
Anything required before travel to games?
Yes, a signed parent/guardian consent form. 
Are coaches background-checked?
Yes, all coaches are background-checked. 
Is my child insured?
The program does not carry medical insurance for players. Your own health insurance covers any injury, and travel is covered by the driver's own auto insurance. We are working with SIMBA, our fiscal sponsor, on liability coverage and will update this page when it is in place. 
Are there sessions for adults too?
Yes — adults who already play, or community members interested in learning, are welcome. Sessions are scheduled directly with the coach and run year-round in Spokane, with additional sessions in Reardan, WA. 
Do you need volunteers?
Yes. We need a second adult on Tuesdays more than anything else. No cricket background is needed — the coaching stays with the head coach. A baseball coach, or anyone who plays, would be especially welcome. Email info@spokanecricketacademy.org.
